Strange Glitch While Playing Diablo III
June 21, 2012 | ~1 min read time.

I was happily motoring along in the part of Diablo III that I hate the most yesterday, when this happened. (See picture!) All of a sudden, half of my screen was gone. I was overheated from the stupidly hot Day Star and whatever other weather factors were coming together to create 34.4°C heat.

Weird render.
Badly rendered surprise sandstorm?

Seriously, it was windy so I thought that maybe it would be safe to wander outside for a bit. That it might be a little cool in the breeze. Not so! It was like being inside of a convection oven out there. Anyway, back to the glitch. I decided to file a ticket about the badly rendered surprise sandstorm.

That's what I decided to call it. "The Badly Rendered Surprise Sandstorm." I wouldn't have filed a ticket and just put it down to the heat and my computer doing weird things because of it. It wouldn't be the first time such a thing had happened to me while gaming. But no, it wasn't just that my screen had gone wonky.

I could run my Demon Hunter all over any part of the map that was rendering properly, but I couldn't do anything else aside from pull up the game menu. From there I could do nothing. I had to ctrl-alt-del to the Windows task manager to shut down the game by ending the process. I logged back in and all was perfectly fine. Very strange, indeed. I'm now waiting on a response to the ticket. I don't know if it's a bug with the game or if it's a problem with my Windows installation. It'll be interesting to see which.

Now, off to play before it gets to be the temperature of Hell's furnace room again. Good times.
